About us

We are a company founded by young Peruvian entrepreneurs who are passionate about sharing Peru’s cultural richness and diversity through the creation and marketing of handcrafted products. We specialise in making handmade rag dolls, crafted with meticulous detail and dressed in traditional costumes that faithfully capture the spirit and traditions of each region represented. These dolls are more than just handicrafts, they are a tribute to Peruvian heritage, ideal for collectors, culture lovers or as a meaningful gift.

Social work

“Girls of the Sun” or Qori Dolls, is a social venture created with the aim of offering the tourists, who visit the city of Arequipa, a characteristic product of the region and the country, represented in a doll dressed in typical costumes of different regions of Peru. For the manufacturing of our product, we have the support of mothers in vulnerable situations on the outskirts of the City of Arequipa, to whom we offer job stability and constant training.

Our Collaborators

The project’s social purpose is to support working mothers of the shantytown of Bustamante in the district of Cerro Colorado in the city of Arequipa. They are trained through free training workshops and work models established by us. The innovation of the venture lies in generating a collectible product that shows beautiful and detailed costumes from different regions in our country.

Training Process

The process begins defining the details for the elaboration of the dolls, in order to lay down all the aspects of trial and error; and thus establish a work model to apply the training. The next step is the search for potential artisans, who will be evaluated taking into account their situation and will. Later they will be included in the training process, where they will be taught, under close supervision, the working model already established. On the other hand, they will be enrolled in manufacturing workshops, where we seek to develop their skills.

How did the project begin?

Qori Dolls, as a business idea, was presented by a team of students from the Catholic University of San Pablo to the competition “Para quitarse el sombrero” (a program developed by the Romero Foundation in an effort to promote and develop the entrepreneurial spirit of young Peruvians), in which 6,567 business ideas from 327 institutions throughout Peru participated. In this competition, it was named the winning project in the tourism and crafts category.

Similarly, the project participated in the fifth edition of StartUp Peru. In the first phase of this competition, more than 835 innovative projects from all regions were submitted and moved on to the evaluation stage of the StartUp Peru competition, which awards seed capital for the emergence and consolidation of new companies offering innovative products and services, where Qori Dolls was one of the winning projects.
